Solar Eclipse T-Shirt Design
Project type
T-shirt Graphic Design
Date
April 2024
Location
Indiana
While interning with the Marketing and Communications Department at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in 2024, I collaborated on the design of a commemorative T-shirt graphic for the campus-wide solar eclipse viewing event.
The design was inspired by the college’s rich Catholic heritage and historic architecture. I featured Guerin Hall, one of the most iconic buildings on campus, framed by a solar eclipse flare to symbolize the celestial event encompassing the structure as the moon passed over the sun. I incorporated a cross to reflect the college’s religious identity and spiritual foundations.
Drawing from the campus’s ornate and traditional Catholic imagery, I chose a gothic-style font to evoke the historic character of the institution, deliberately avoiding modern design trends. My goal was to reimagine Saint Mary-of-the-Woods’ visual identity in a way that honored its origins while capturing the awe-inspiring nature of the eclipse.
The T-shirts were mass-printed and distributed to students, faculty, and staff to wear during the event, helping foster a sense of unity and celebration. This project was a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the college’s visual storytelling and cultural expression.
